Jaipur weekend trip luggage: the short answer

Cabin spinner or weekender?

Leaving room for Jaipur shopping

Jaipur's bazaars, including Johari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar and Tripolia, and boutiques in C-Scheme sell block-print fabrics, quilts, kurtas, silver and kundan jewellery, gemstones, blue pottery, mojaris, lac bangles and home décor.

Travel with your bag around 70 percent full. Pack a foldable tote or duffle flat in the bottom of your bag. Wrap blue pottery in clothing and place it in the centre of a hard-shell case. Keep jewellery and gemstones in your handbag or cabin bag, never in checked luggage, and keep the bills.

For larger purchases such as quilts, rugs or furniture, many shops offer shipping, which is often easier than carrying them home.

Jaipuri razai quilts are famously light for their size but bulky. A single double quilt can fill half a cabin bag. Ask the shop to vacuum-pack or tightly roll it, or buy a compression bag and do it yourself at the hotel.
