Season changes the list a lot. October to March is peak season, with warm days and cool to cold nights, especially in the desert and in Mount Abu. April to June is very hot, so you need breathable, loose clothing and a hat at all times. The monsoon, from July to September, is a quieter and greener time to visit Udaipur, but humidity rises, so swap heavier fabrics for quick-dry cotton.

For festive palace dinners, fold lehengas or embroidered kurtas inside out with tissue between layers and place them flat at the top of the suitcase. A slim garment folder keeps them crease-free across several hotel changes, and many heritage hotels offer pressing if you ask.
